Elevated fire danger Monday & Tuesday

fire-danger-wildfireFire danger throughout northern Michigan will be elevated Monday afternoon and early evening, and once again on Tuesday due to dry weather conditions.

The National Weather Service out of Gaylord says temperatures in the 70s, low humidity levels, sustained winds of 5 to 10 miler per hour and a lack of significant rainfall over the past week will create ideal conditions for wildfires.

Those enjoying the outdoors are strongly urged to take the proper precautions with campfires and other open flames and remember to properly dispose of used smoking materials.

Due to the dry and warm weather, burn permits are not being issued across northeast Michigan. For current information on burn permits, visit the Michigan Burn Permit website.
