North Western State Trail Opening a New Section of Trail

TRAIL IS NOW OPEN! M-119 to Alanson Trail is now complete. The construction of the Trail-Dir-Frnt_Website-2013_96seven mile M-119-to-Alanson segment of the North Western State Trail has wrapped up and it is now officially open. Five and half miles of the seven-mile asphalt trail run along the former Grand Rapids to Mackinaw Railroad corridor past Spring, Mud and Round Lakes. The route travels through the communities of Conway and Oden. Just east of Oden, the trail runs along U.S. 31 for 1.5 miles before ending at Powers Road. Bike route signs will lead trail users into the Village of Alanson along Milton Road (this is intended to be temporary solution until a trail can routed through the Village). This trail segment is one phase of the 32-mile North Western State Trail connecting Petoskey and Mackinaw City.  Please join us at the official Grand Opening and Ribbon cutting planned for Friday, Sept. 27, at 11a.m. at the DNR- Oden State Fish Hatchery Visitor Center.
