Chippewa Hills Grooming Report

Tuesday 12/26/2017 4pm

Randy called to report all trails at Chippewa are now groomed and tracks set. Ski conditions are good…. ENJOY!

Norway Ridge Trails Grooming

Thanks to Jeff Blumenthal for getting on the trails with the groomer today. Lets Go Skiing!

New Equipment Update

TBTA has taken delivery on our new groomer from SnowGroomer.net in Harbor Springs. Thanks to funds raised by our members and a generous grant from the Alpena Youth Advisory Council at a total cost of $3,299.95 we now have a new light weight groomer for Norway Ridge ski trails and the Winter Sports Trail behind Northern Light Arena.

After this week’s wind storm we had to scout all the ski trails at Norway and remove several downed trees thanks Dennis and Mike for your help.

Saturday July 23rd 2016 at 8am Ride all the single track in Alpena County starting at Rockport ~ Norway Ridge Pathway ~ Chippewa Hills Pathway

The day would begin at 8am at Rockport State Rec Area doing one 7 mile loop around the quarry, then jumping in your vehicle and driving to Norway Ridge Pathway where you would do an lap approx. 7 miles then back into your vehicle on to Chippewa Hills Pathway for a lap of 7 to 10 miles.

Alpena to Receive Grant for Trail Head

ALPENA – The Department of Natural Resources Natural Resources Trust Fund board approved Alpena’s grant application for a trail head on the North Eastern State Trail.

The $350,000 project will build bathrooms, a pavilion, parking areas and bike racks, all near the North Eastern State Trail’s southern terminus at Woodward Avenue, according to site development plans. Matching funds will be provided by several area organizations, including the city through in-kind donations and the Alpena County Youth and Recreation Fund. The $245,000 grant will be matched with $105,000 in local donations.

Trails week to be celebrated around the region

Rockport State Recreation Area

ROCKPORT – Residents and visitors can celebrate Michigan Trails Week by taking one of three tours at Rockport State Recreation Area on Saturday.

Friends of Rockport/Besser Natural Area is hosting an event to showcase the state recreation area’s trails, both over land and water, Department of Natural Resources Park Supervisor Eric Ostrander said. Saturday is also National Public Lands Day, and access to all state parks and recreation areas is free. This includes Norway Ridge Pathway southwest of Alpena, Harrisville, Negwegon and Hoeft state parks and anywhere else recreation passports typically are required.

Trail expansion in Davison Township portion of plans as officials seek $600,000 in state grant money

davisontrailjpg-47a7e16b495a6ffdDAVISON TOWNSHIP, MI — Township residents will soon have greater access to the Black Creek Trail as the Davison community makes more walkable and scenic sections of the path.

Work is under way on a roughly half-mile stretch connecting the existing 1.6-mile trail that begins behind the Davison Township offices off Irish Road to Jack Abernathy Park in Davison. Work on the trail began in 2009.
