BOBBY AND THANE TACKLE THE TRANSAM Day 25 Ozora to Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park

Day Twenty Five Thane’s Blog: rub a dub dub

Saturday May 25, 2013, 64 miles (103 km) – Total so far: 1,333 miles (2,145 km)

Last night proved once again that you don’t have to be cycling to have an adventure on the transam journey. When we checked into our hotel room in Ozora we were greeted by an ant colony on one wall. After a couple minutes I took care of that little situation. Hey, we are badass cycling dudes aren’t we?And after cycling that many miles there is no way on this earth that a colony of ants will stop this bus. So it’s all fine and good. Bobby is sleeping in one bed. Rough stuff is sleeping in the other and Team Grampy is journaling while on his sleep pad on the floor.

Well after I pulled the 6th crawling bug from my arms I picked up camp and slept in the freaking tub. Just another story from the road.

Today’s 64 miles had visions of the Ozark Mountains written all over it. After we spent some time on another road being buzzed by way too many vehicles we made the right turn and started to do some climbing. According to the back of the map, tomorrow we begin our true trek into the mountain range known as the Ozarks.

It’s a holiday weekend so the traffic was nuts most of the day. i will take the climbs over the damn traffic.

Let the games begin.

Day Twenty Five Bobby’s Blog: Brother what a night it really was…..

Saturday May 25, 2013, 64 miles (103 km) – Total so far: 1,333 miles (2,145 km)

Got quite a surprise when I stepped into the loo for a wee this morning (been spending too much time with the Englishmen.) I found my buddy Thane sleeping in the bath tub. When we got in the room last night we noticed that ants were crawling all over the walls. Under normal circumstances we would have cleared out and went somewhere else but these are hardly normal circumstances.

We were so tired that we just brushed the ants off the wall and Thane made a bed on the floor as there were three of us and only two beds. He woke up in the night covered with bugs and decided to check out the tub.

Needless to say we were out of there pretty early this am and had our usual up and down day with a lot of crazy Memorial Day traffic to contend with. Had a great breakfast at The Factory in Farmington,MO and pedaled on 64 miles to Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park.

I think he snuck out to the Ozone Bar after we went to sleep.

These roads got pretty busy as the day wore on.
